Mike Clarke has qualifications in mining, chemical and environmental engineering. Mike is the CEO of M.E.T.T.S. Pty Ltd an engineering consultancy involved in infrastructure development and resource management. The company’s specialisations are fuel and energy supply, energy efficiency, environmental ramifications of energy development and wastes management. Mike is also a member and director of Onshore Petroleum Australasia (OPA P/L), a petroleum resource development consultancy. Recent consulting has included, natural gas, coal and helium resource development and commercialisation, fine coal rejects recovery in central Queensland, ventilation air methane destruction, understanding the challenges of the co-development of coal seam gas extraction and coal mining, the development of a lignite deposit in Pakistan and a carbon capture and a sequestration study for S. E. Asia (Asian Development Bank, Manila) and coal management in a nickel smelter (New Caledonia).
In 2012, Mike along with Inspector Ged Griffin, were co-editors of the ARSC book, Next Generation Disaster Management. Mike co-authored a chapter in that book with Duncan Seddon, titled Energy Security in Australia.
